Our Sustainability
Report
A commitment built over time, integrating environmental responsibility, care for people, and industrial vision to generate lasting value for the local area and the entire supply chain.
This approach translates into concrete, measurable actions documented in the Sustainability Report and developed through a structured process shaped by results and strategic priorities.
The following sections present the main areas of action and the tools through which this approach is embedded in Reda’s manufacturing and organizational model.
Our commitment
Since the 1990s, beginning with the acquisition of the Group’s farms, Reda has progressively integrated environmental and social considerations into its manufacturing model.
A constantly evolving vision, supported by investments, operational decisions, monitoring tools, and certifications, with the aim of ensuring quality, transparency, and responsible resource management throughout manufacturing processes. Today, this approach extends across different areas of the company, from raw material management and industrial processes to relationships with people and the local area.
Becoming a Benefit Corporation represented the natural evolution of this journey, formally embedding the commitment to generate not only economic value, but also social and environmental value.
The following timeline highlights the key milestones of a journey rooted in the past and continuously evolving.
Our journey
From raw materials to the business model: a journey that begins with the land and extends across company processes, bringing together innovation, industrial vision, and the pursuit of sustainable development.
The beginning of a vision
Reda enters the world of sheep farming by acquiring its first farm in New Zealand, Otamatapaio, followed by Rugged Ridges Station and Glenrock Station. This pioneering decision marks the beginning of a journey toward greater control and understanding of raw materials and a deeper knowledge of Merino wool, from its origin to the finished product.
Measuring environmental impact to improve Reda certifies its environmental management system by obtaining ISO 14001 and EMAS, beginning a structured path of continuous improvement in environmental performance.
Health and safety management A management system dedicated to occupational health and safety is implemented, initially certified according to BS OHSAS 18001 and later upgraded to ISO 45001, strengthening the protection of people within the company.
Working with certified supply chains Reda signs an agreement with The New Zealand Merino Company for the exclusive sourcing of ZQ-certified wool in New Zealand. This marks the beginning of collaboration with an upstream supply chain designed to ensure fiber quality, animal welfare, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility.
Fabric life cycle assessment Through an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), Reda assesses and certifies the life cycle of one square meter of wool fabric, evaluating its environmental impact from raw material to finished fabric. This represents a fundamental step in verifying, measuring, and improving environmental performance.
Reducing hazardous chemicals Reda begins implementing the 4sustainability® Chem protocol, introducing an integrated system for process control and the progressive elimination of harmful chemicals in line with the ZDHC program.
RWS Reda is certified according to the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS), the international standard that promotes responsible practices in sheep farming and wool production. The certification ensures fiber traceability throughout the supply chain and compliance with rigorous criteria for animal welfare, land management, and social responsibility
Benefit Corporation Reda becomes a Benefit Corporation, formally integrating social and environmental impact objectives into its Articles of Association alongside economic goals. This decision establishes a long-term vision based on governance, responsibility, and transparency.
Gender equality Reda renewed its UNI/PdR 125:2022 Gender Equality Certification. This recognition confirms the company’s commitment to adopting structured policies that support equity and inclusion. It represents an important milestone in an ongoing journey toward an increasingly people-focused corporate culture. Everyone’s daily contribution remains essential to building a fair and respectful workplace.
