The making of Reda's fabrics is a team game in which each phase is perfectly concatenated with the previous and the next, and each activity is crucial for the success of the final product. Today we take you on a tour of a perhaps lesser-known, but absolutely fundamental department: preparation.

Preparation is a complex and refined process that requires a combination of great craft skills, given by experience, and advanced technologies. The preparation process is used to transform combed raw wool into yarns of sublime quality, ready to be processed.

At Reda, every detail is taken care of with the utmost attention to ensure the perfection of the final result. To create the best conditions in which our wool can express its full potential, the rooms dedicated to yarn preparation are fully air-conditioned. The indoor air is recirculated, purified and regulated in terms of both humidity and temperature in order to ensure an ideal and constant environment for wool treatment.

But what is the preparation for? This delicate step is essential for a good spinning:

- the cleaned and combed sliver goes through several steps of color mixing;

- It undergoes further combing to ensure deeper cleaning;

- Finally, controlling the drafts allows the weight to be reduced from 50 grams per meter to 0.7 grams per meter.

All these steps follow each other in a precise way and fixed order, to make sure only the best wool fibers come out, perfectly clean and ready for the next step. The very high quality of the final result is only possible thanks to our combination of craftsmanship and advanced technology.

Our preparation department has been optimized over the years through technological developments and our sustainability initiatives. Today, production capacity has reached the figure of 4,000 kilograms of yarn per day, while the quality of the environment is guaranteed by 480 daily air changes. Finally, the Reda Smart Process and Reda Smart Energy initiatives have enabled a reduction of up to 50 percent in the department's energy consumption, yet another testament to the company's focus on ever-sustainable development.
