Manufacturing process
Each phase of the wool production process tells a story of quality and excellence, found in every Reda fabric. Each step is crucial and represents a fundamental piece of the mosaic that composes a Reda fabric, the result of a carefully supervised manufacturing process and inexhaustible efforts to obtain perfection in the yarn.
The journey of a wool textile begins with a meticulous selection of the raw material, the wool. This is a fundamental phase of the process and it is in this moment that the most refined wool is chosen to create the best fabric.
The fleece
The fleece is then combed, sorted and gathered in longer fibers, better known as “tops”. These are then transferred to the dyeing department where, for the first time, the wool meets color. Once completely dried, the tops are passed on to the spinning department where an additional selection process takes place ensuring absolute perfection. Here, the tops become a long, fine yarn. Yarns come together in the twisting department, are made parallel, stretched and processed to create the warp, a combination of yarns that form the lengthwise part of the fabric. These are then interlaced with the weft to create the fabric during the weaving phase. At this point, the fabric is ready for the finishing process, a sequence in which the fabric undergoes a series of treatments aimed at improving its stability, appearance and softness.
