The art of know-how
Spring Summer 2020 Collection
The Spring Summer 2020 collection pays homage to the ancient but not antiquated concept of Téchne. In ancient Greece, this term embraced two seemingly unrelated subjects: art and craft. The possession of knowledge and the experience of practice (so-called know-how) come together in the meaning of téchne. The rediscovery of this fascinating concept gives life to a new industrial humanism, conveyed through a synergy between textile culture, technologically advanced processes and virtuous practices in environmental protection, aimed at the production of fabrics that exalt the beauty and know-how of man. Téchne is the inspiration behind and central theme of Reda 1865’s Spring Summer 2020 Stories, which revolve around beauty and know-how, inflecting the eloquence of Summery colors and the “delightful fatigue” of creativity. It is in this apparent ambivalence that the vitality of a contemporary aesthetic comes to life.

“The artists were technicians and the technicians were artists because, beyond the pure knowledge, the téchne comprised the craft-like know-how used to attain a concrete product.”
The colors of Spring Summer 2020 are luminous and welcoming, coming alive in an offering of luxurious tones that allude to Italian atmospheres that are authentic, but never loud. Spring Summer 2020 fabrics feature delicate hues that call to mind the elegance of granulated marble found in Italian villas. Soft undertones of antique ivory, golden straw, azurite and eggshell caress the surfaces of fabrics, infiltrating them with a colored dust in an intricate play of micro-textures. The palette also includes indigo, natural and burnt earth tones, yellow, antique green and patent purple inspired by the colors of Renaissance frescos, seemingly recalling their signature pigments. Finally, the protagonists of Spring Summer 2020 are shades of blue: light, never too vivid, but at the same time, intense and captivating.
