Modern Gentleman story:

Milan

As Italy’s fashion, design and fine dining capital, Milan is where our eclectic-minded Modern Gentleman feels right at home. Art, culture, business and fashion all come together to create a hub of creativity and innovation where our Gentleman can enjoy a stroll around the city’s streets, take in the breathtaking splendor of the iconic Duomo, indulge in a spot of shopping in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II or on via Montenapoleone, soak up the culture at one of the awe-inspiring exhibitions at Palazzo Reale or Museo del ‘900 and finally treat himself to an evening show at the world-famous Teatro alla Scala.

During Fashion Week our Gentleman will gladly attend a runway show or two to check out the emerging new talent; Design Week will give him the chance to discover new trends and new ideas for his home. Milan is also one of the ultimate fine dining capitals.

Here our Gentleman will have a wide variety of restaurants to choose from if he wants to embark on a culinary world tour, from typically Milanese fare and new Italian cuisine to fusion restaurants and all kinds of Indian and Asian food. Thanks to its vibrant atmosphere, special events, and diversely creative crowd, Milan is the kind of city where Modern Gentleman will never experience boredom; we even think it might be love at first sight.

Our Modern Gentleman wouldn’t be seen in public looking less than impeccable and he relies on Milan’s best barbershops to maintain his flawless look. If he feels like being pampered he will opt for Tonsor Club, where the cosy vintage interior is infused with sophisticated contemporary accents. There he can book a beard and moustache trim with the knowledge they will be performed with the best organic grooming products, or take advantage of one of the many tailored services in a truly relaxing atmosphere, a genuine haven of peace in the heart of the city.

If he feels like taking a more traditional approach, the Antica Barberia Colla is the ideal place for the Modern Gentleman to ask for the kind of classic haircut that never goes out of style. Master barber Dino Colla first opened his shop on via Manzoni back in 1904 having been trained in the Ferrara tradition; it hasn’t lost any of its aura since and is still to date a go-to for the impeccably dressed.

Another classic gem, Barberino’s Barber Shop is the perfect place for the Modern Gentleman to revel in the refined atmosphere of a storied Italian barbershop. The moment you step inside it is as if time is standing still, with the interiors heavily inspired by the luxurious mosaics once found in the boudoirs of the most exclusive hotels. From hot towel shaves to facials, manicures and traditional Italian haircuts, the Modern Gentleman will be spoilt for choice.

Once our Gentleman is confident he looks flawless, he can finally experience one of Milan’s most talked about restaurants. If he wants to enjoy great food alongside a stunning view, he will need to look no further than Ristorante Giacomo Arengario. Located right in the city center, this fine dining favorite offers incomparable views over Duomo and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, making it a true must-visit.

For an alternative dinner with a more contemporary feel, our Gentleman will favor a venue like Carlo e Camilla in segheria, a highly suggestive restaurant housed inside a former sawmill built in 1929. There he will also enjoy one of the highly praised cocktails.

If he is hungry for fish, the Modern Gentleman will book at table at Bianca, a welcoming and intimate restaurant where each dish is a feast for the palate. Its unassuming luxury and timeless charm makes for the perfect atmosphere to woo his significant other with a romantic dinner. They will both enjoy genuine ingredients, expertly brought together to create a truly unique combination of flavors and textures.

The Modern Gentleman will always jump at the chance to showcase his style and personality: our Reda 1865 collection offers the perfect pure Merino wool fabrics from which to cut one-of-a-kind, instantly recognizable pieces. Featuring a number of eye-catching patterns, from colourful Madras to classic Prince of Wales, our Super 110’s range calls for timeless Saxony jackets that are guaranteed to make a splash on the streets of Milan and wherever our ever-so-sharp Gentleman will go to next.
