Our journey

1993

In 1993, with foresight, Reda decided to buy his first farm in New Zealand, Otamatapaio, then Rugged Ridges Station and Glenrock Station, arriving today at more than 30,000 sheep. This has enabled us to become part of the world of agriculture and Merino sheep farming, gaining a deeper understanding of the techniques required to produce the highest quality wool.

Our journey

2004

Reda certified its environmental management system, obtaining ISO 14001 certification for the first time as well as EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme, no longer in use), with the aim of pursuing the continuous improvement of its environmental performance.

Our journey

2009

In 2009 an agreement was reached between Reda and the Merino New Zealand Company for the acquisition of raw materials exclusively from farms that possess the ZQ certification, also known as "Ethical Wool". This accreditation combines the natural performance of fiber with a program designed to ensure respect for the environment, economic development and social responsibility, combined with animal welfare.

Our journey

2018

The life cycle assessment of one square metre of Reda fabric made of 100% wool is carried out using the environmental product declaration in order to calculate its environmental performance, considering the impact from the farm to the finished product.

Our journey

2019

4sustainability® is an innovative implementation framework that guarantees the sustainability performance of the luxury and fashion supply chain. In 2019, Reda began the process of implementing the CHEM 4sustainability® protocol for the gradual elimination of toxic and harmful chemicals to human health and the environment. The process involves controlling the entire production cycle through a unique management system aligned with the ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) program. Our journey

2020

Reda reaffirmed its commitment to the environment and to people by becoming a B Corp. The “B Corporation Certification” is a mark licensed by B Lab, a private non-profit organization, to companies that have successfully completed the B Impact Assessment (BIA) and therefore meet B Lab’s requirements in terms of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Please note that B Lab is not a conformity assessment body pursuant to Regulation (EU) No. 765/2008, nor is it a national, European, or international standardization body pursuant to Regulation (EU) No. 1025/2012. The BIA criteria are distinct and independent from harmonized standards resulting from ISO standards or other standardization bodies and are not ratified by national or European public institutions. Also in 2020, Reda obtained certification for the first time under RWS and GRS, two voluntary standards developed by Textile Exchange. RWS (Responsible Wool Standard) ensures that wool comes from responsibly managed farms in accordance with specific criteria for animal welfare and reduced environmental impact. It also guarantees traceability throughout the entire value chain. GRS (Global Recycled Standard) verifies recycled materials and ensures their traceability from sourcing to the finished product. It includes strict social, environmental, and chemical requirements.

Our journey

2022

Reda has taken a further formal step by becoming a Benefit Corporation (Società Benefit) and amending its Articles of Association to include common benefit objectives alongside the pursuit of profit. As a Benefit Corporation, Reda is committed to integrating into its business model a series of commitments concerning supply chain management, people, and the local community, taking responsibility for transparently reporting on the results achieved and areas for improvement.

Our journey

2023

Reda obtained European Flax® certification, a recognized standard that guarantees the traceability of flax fiber grown in Europe (France, Belgium, and the Netherlands). The certification ensures that the fiber comes from crops grown without artificial irrigation and free from GMOs, in compliance with the requirements of the standard. European Flax® certification also attests to the traceability of the fiber throughout the supply chain, from field to finished product.
