Reda’s first steps towards sustainability
1/3 - EMAS certification
2/3 - EMAS certification
3/3 - EMAS certification
Over the years, sustainability has grown more and more important and become a truly central aspect across economic and social sectors as well as a key decision factor for increasingly environmentally aware consumers. This awareness is evidently observed in the fashion and textile industries, where a few pioneering companies have led the way.
Amongst these forward thinkers, Reda made sustainable innovation a key aspect of its activity as early as 2004, when it became the first woolen mill in the world to receive the EMAS certification.
The Eco-Management and Audit Scheme is a voluntary tool created by the European Commission to evaluate and improve environmental performance while providing information on eco-management through the writing of an Environmental Declaration verified and validated on a yearly basis. The updated version can be found in the “Sustainability” section of Reda’s website.
This certification, in that it ensures a virtuous approach to environmental aspects, constant improvement and transparency towards stakeholders, has allowed the company to assess itself constantly and objectively evaluate the progressive elimination of harmful chemicals along the entire production cycle while promoting employee health and wellbeing.
Reda’s commitment towards sustainability has carried on to include new tools such as technological research and digitalization in order to reduce its impact on the environment while measuring its performance with increasing accuracy in order to keep improving.
