Creating fabrics of excellence, using carefully selected raw materials is a commitment that at Reda involves the entire production process and is backed by a path consolidated over time through the achievement of the most authoritative certifications in the field of sustainability. Being responsible is for Reda a real mission that over the years has gone on to guide every process and activity, in order to guarantee the consumer a truly sustainable product made in full respect of the environment.
On its path toward sustainability, Reda has achieved important recognitions and certifications, which are direct evidence of a concrete and real commitment to sustainable development. It was in 2009 that Reda entered into a contract with Merino New Zealand for the exclusive purchase of raw material from farms holding ZQ certification, also known as "Ethical Wool." This accreditation combines the natural performance of the wool fiber with a program designed to ensure environmental compliance, economic development and social responsibility, while fully respecting animal welfare (mulesing free), guaranteeing the tracking of the wool's entire journey.
In 2015, through New England Wool, Reda launched the accreditation scheme for Australian breeders called SustainaWool, with the aim of promoting the production of the best Merino wool through sustainable management of physical and natural resources, ensuring full respect for animal welfare and traceability along the wool's entire journey.
In 2019 the accreditation scheme was handed over to a third-party body, AWEX (Australian Wool Exchange) to ensure independent development, continued growth and international recognition of the program for the benefit of the wool supply chain.
In 2020, Reda was awarded the Responsible Wool Standard certification, promoted by Textile Exchange, one of the leading international nonprofit organizations for responsible and sustainable development in the textile industry.
RWS involves the issuance of an environmental declaration verified by a third party that ensures that wool is sourced from farms that are responsibly managed according to specific criteria respecting animal welfare and reducing environmental impact. It also ensures traceability along the entire value chain.
ZQ, SustainaWOOL and RWS are the proof and the result of an attention to the quality and origin of raw materials that has never been lacking at Reda and that is an indispensable building block for the production of fabrics of excellence, made with full respect for the environment.
