“WE MUST CULTIVATE OUR GARDEN” – VOLTAIRE, CANDIDE, OU L’OPTIMISME
The poetry of the garden
The Reda Fall Winter 2020 collection is inspired by the fascinating concept of the garden as a space that is both natural and poetic at the same time; a place that contains emotions and atmosphere in continuous evolution. The spirit of the garden is collected and reinterpreted through colors that recount the world of botany and the strong desire for peace and contemplation that is related to it. The fabrics of the Fall Winter 2020 collection are inspired by the unmistakable style of Chance (played by Peter Sellers), the protagonist of the famed 1979 film, Being There. Elegant and impeccable with a wardrobe full of classic suits, Chance is the attentive and refined gardener, a veritable style icon.
“We must cultivate our garden” wrote Voltaire in his celebrated novella, Candide, ou l'Optimisme, and this concept is evoked in the Reda Fall Winter 2020 collection, which interprets the verb “to cultivate” in its double meaning: to work the land to make it generous and thrive and to work on oneself to elevate one’s mind. In this way, the garden becomes an ideal and symbolic place in which nature and culture unite and to laud and celebrate the care and attention of man upon himself.
The Reda Fall Winter 2020 collection is developed through four Stories (Atmospheres, One-of-a-kind, Spontaneous, Study) that interpret the concept of the garden in its diverse forms. The combination of nature, color, fabric and art is palpable in every warp and weft, shape and fiber of this collection.
